TD Place is pleased to confirm Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman will headline a free concert Friday November 11 at The Arena at TD Place. The annual 'Rock for Public Services' event, presented by CUPE Local 503, CUPE Ontario and CUPE National, celebrates the efforts of municipal workers and health care workers in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.

Opening the show is critically acclaimed folk roots duo Whitehorse and rising country talent Kelly Prescott. Guest performers joining Randy Bachman on stage for this special event will be Hamilton-based roots rocker Terra Lightfoot and dynamic brothers Dallas and Travis Good.

Rock for Public Services is an annual free concert that CUPE 503 stages in Ottawa to celebrate and promote the importance of public services. "We are honoured to have Randy Bachman perform at TD Place with his all-star band and special guests. The Rock for Public Services concerts have been a great platform to bring awareness around the fantastic public services we have in the Nation's Capital. Every day we are touched in some way by public services, from the time we get up and turn the tap on, to when we drive to work, or take our children to daycare, we all rely our public services" said Brian Madden, CUPE 503 President.
This year marks the ninth edition of Rock For Public Services. "This annual event has been a very successful forum to raise much-needed funds for some great Ottawa charities. This year we have selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa and are happy to promote such a great cause" said Brian Madden. Donations are accepted throughout TD Place on the night of the event.
Few artists can claim to have made a bigger impact on popular music than Randy Bachman, widely regarded as the "architect of Canadian rock 'n' roll." His renowned songwriting acumen produced "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet," "American Woman," "Let it Ride, "Taking Care of Business," "Looking Out for #1," "No Sugar Tonight" and "These Eyes," tracks that have become pop‐culture touchstones.
Bachman co-founded iconic bands The Guess Who and Bachman‐Turner Overdrive and has earned over 120 gold and platinum albums/singles around the world as a performer and producer. Along with more than 40 million records sold he's also no stranger to garnering the coveted #1 spot on radio playlists having done so in over 20 countries.
His accomplishments haven't gone unrecognized, of course. In addition to his induction into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville, Bachman has the distinction of being inducted twice into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, most recently alongside his fellow original Bachman‐Turner Overdrive members at the 2014 JUNO Awards. A recipient of the Order of Canada, Bachman's overwhelming international influence and popularity was acknowledged in 2011 by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), in the form of the Global Impact Award.
Whitehorse's story has been told as two acclaimed musicians joining forces under one new name - no drummer, no keyboard player, violinist or even bass player on call, and no producer. Just Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland. The first album and EP demonstrated the success of this simple equation, one plus one, with an abundance of guitar slinging, songwriting expertise and white-hot desire. Of course, the live show has been anything but simple. Melissa and Luke present a full band sound using live loops, bits and pieces percussion, and swapping guitars left right and centre on stage. By the time Whitehorse took to the stage at Toronto's esteemed Massey Hall for their sold-out debut in 2013, the edge of the ledge effect of their earliest shows had transformed into a nimble ballet of moving instruments, layers of percussion, voice and keys, layered upon each other.
Kelly Prescott is a "from-the-cradle" country singer and hails from two musically renowned family lines spanning three generations. When her voice is blended with steel guitars and fiddles country music lovers from way-back-when hear a kindred soul.
Travis and Dallas Good have developed, even perfected, a style of music that is uniquely their own as part of Toronto's indescribable The Sadies. Possessing a deep fondness and reverence for the best of country, bluegrass and blues, they are equally informed and influenced by everything from 1960's garage and psychedelic rock to surf instrumentals and punk rock.
Terra Lightfoot's elemental voice commands attention and awe, whether on slow-burning soul ballads or hard-charging rock numbers. As a songwriter and vocalist her songs tap into the raw emotion of hearts supercharged by love, lust, loneliness and temptation. Her guitar playing melds expert finger-picking and distorted, hook-heavy melodies.
Rock For Public Services at TD Place is free for everyone of all ages. No tickets are required for the event, seats are available for free on a first come, first served basis. Limited paid parking is available on-site.
