Calling all metal fans! We caught up with the members of The Reset, a progressive/metal band out of Orlando, Fl founded in 2010. Six musicians coming from an array of musical styles and backgrounds, I recommend you give the band’s debut EP “Progenitor” a listen, available at thereset.bandcamp.com. Band Q&A:
2.Could you tell us more about your band name?-Ok, the name “The Reset” just caught my attention one moment as a good name for a progressive group. As I formed the band with that name in mind. It made sense for what this band was to become and in the name itself, We hope it opens for us an opportunity and the freedom for our band to really represent ourself if our sound drifts away from our original material. We initially “Reset” ourselves to adapt to what we become as Musicians and as people. (Gabe)
3.When and Where did you decide to start this musical endeavor?- The band started in Orlando, Florida as a one man project (Gabe) He wrote everything from the start and had a close friend do drums till He came across Spencer (who at the time was a co-worker with him), Steve came later I’m sure from some showcase event (Considering all of us are really into the same music style), Derik came as a reference from someone on the facebook band page when it started and he jumped onto the opportunity, and ron came from no where or in the depths that is the internet, and I was brought up through a friend and found interest in the group. 4.As a band who are your Major musical influences?- Incubus, Minus The Bear, and The Acacia Strain (Steven) -Matt Greiner, Eric Moore, Chris Adler, Matt Gartska, and Mario Duplantier (Spencer) -Fredrik Thordendal, Michael Keene, Ron Sword, JB Brubaker, and John Petrucci. 5.How would you describe your sound? - I could simply say that it’s simply metal as f@#$ but if you want to get into details. We get a touch of everything and anything we want. You will definitely hear djenty, Proggy, crushing, Thall, Spastic, ambient, shreddy, and bouncy as a interpretation of what we sound like from the feedback we have received from our listeners. (Gabe)
6. Do you have a favorite Fl venue to perform in?-We have many that would include House of Blues, The Ritz, The Social, Backbooth, The 321 Local, Jack Rabbits Live, and The Haven Lounge. (Derik)
