Puravida bracelets, Stroke Association and Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness
Puravida is my new favorite company, I love what they do, and I love their products and this is a little blog post to restore a little bit of faith in the community; this company do good things for people who need it, and at the moment I think everyone needs to be reminded of some of the good in the world. So here it is:
A little bit about puravida. It began with two college friends, Paul Goodman and Griffin Thall, from Southern California, when on a college graduation trip to Costa Rica. They crossed path with two men, Jorge and Joaquin who were peddling bracelets on the street. Paul and Griffin asked them if they would make 400 bracelets for them to take back to the US with them - creating a business relationship. Now, they are able to give Jorge and Joaquin enough business to live comfortably - they went from selling a few bracelets a week, to selling 20,000 a week. They are now being sold in 2,500 surf shops, boutiques, college book stores and a few large chain stores around the world!
The phrase 'puravida' means 'pure life' in Spanish. Which is essentially what the companies ideals are based around, they believe in enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune and not taking anything for granted - they believe its about being free and living life to it's fullest with no regrets or taking anything for granted, it is believed to be an attitude to life.
Puravida is also a member of One Percent for the Planet and donates a portion of its proceeds to the Surfrider Foundation, a foundation dedicated to cleaning up beaches and oceans around the world. They strongly believe in giving back. In addition to this, they aim to provide more and more full time jobs to the amazingly talented Artisans of Costa Rica.
A pretty good cause if you ask me!
Our Bracelets. Now, I guess this is where it gets serious. Puravida sell lots of different charity bracelets, for absolutely every charity you could think of. So, with this, instead of buying the pretty fashion related bracelets I bought two Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness bracelets and one  Stroke Association bracelet. These are charities that are close to our hearts. Buying these bracelets, may not do much, but it does mean that you're contributing, even a teeny tiny bit to the research, or promoting awareness of some charities - which although it is small, it is very very helpful. Everyone starts somewhere!
You'll find links below to websites where you can find more information on all of the things i've mentioned in this blog post.
I thought i'd finish with a post of a song; Viva la vida by Coldplay! Enjoy
Muchos love, Ysabelle xxxx
