Public Disagrees With Trump About Paris Agreement
On Thursday, Donald Trump announced that he was pulling the United States out of the Paris Agreement to curb global climate change. He did not ask the Senate to vote on the matter, but just took it on himself to decide that corporate short-term profits was more important than saving the climate for future generations. Does the public agree with his decision?
In a word, NO. About 60% of the public thinks he should have taken the matter to the Senate for a vote instead of acting unilaterally. They believe this is too important a decision for Trump to have acted alone. Only 30% agree that he did the right thing.
Trump's excuse for doing this was that it was unfair, and was hurting American corporations. That is simply not true. The agreement was a moderate approach that the United States could have easily met. And no American corporation was being hurt by the agreement. Those corporations are still reporting enormous profits.
If any of you still wondered, this latest Trump action proves two things -- Trump is both a LIAR and a FOOL!
The chart above is from a recent Rasmussen Poll -- done on May 31st and June 1st of a random national sample of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3 point margin of error.
