PTI Chairman Takes Oath as MNA

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday took his oath as member of national assembly.

His electoral rival and the speaker of the house – Sardar Ayaz Sadiq – administrated the oath.

The PTI chief had contested election from four constituencies in the May 11 polls. He won three seats Lahore, NA-71 Mianwali, NA-1 Peshawar and NA-56 Rawalpindi and lost NA-122, Lahore.

As per constitutional requirement Imran Khan took oath as MNA from NA-56 and left other two other seats vacant. The PTI chairman had sustained severe injuries after falling from a lifter during an electoral rally on May 7.

Two week-long hospitalization and subsequent bed rest at home had delayed Imran Khan’s oath taking as member National Assembly.

Delivering his first speech after swearing in, the PIT chief congratulated PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for becoming the prime minister for a record third time and called the political and military leadership to make a common policy on terrorism.

Imran Khan also criticized of federal budget and lashed out government for proposed increase in General Sales Tax (GST) and said that it will sprinkle slat on wounds of people.

Imran Khan held malfunctioning and corrupt judicial system responsible for most of the problems in the country and stressed the need of a proper functioning judicial system.
