PS-47: MQM Candidate Gunned Down

MQM Candidate gunned downHyderabad: Fakhar-ul-Islam, a provincial assembly candidate has been gunned down in district Hyderabad of Sindh province only a month before general elections. He belonged to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and was contesting for provincial assembly seat from PS-47.

According to available details Fakhar-ul-Islam was passing through Halanaka area of Hyderabad when unknown assailants opened indiscriminate firing on him. He received multiple bullets in ribcage and tummy and died on spot. Attackers fled unchallenged leaving the motorbike behind on crime scene.

Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene and launched search of killers immediately. Dead body of deceased leader was brought to Civil Hospital Hyderabad for postmortem.

Tension gripped the city as news about assassination of Fakhar-ul-Islam broke out. Large number of people gathered outside Civil Hospital and raised slogans. His supporters blocked important roads of the city by burning tires and putting hurdles. Incidents of indiscriminate aerial firing in different areas of the city.
