Cycling not only is an exercise for the body, but it is also a relaxing technique for the mind. The soul attains peace and concentrates on the internal strength and builds a connection with the world so great in such a condition. There are pros and cons of everything in this world just like a coin has two sides. Thus, cycling too has certain positives and negatives, but the positives are heavier when weighed against the negatives.

Cycling is an excellent exercise for the heart, physical strength and cardiovascular fitness. Cycling helps in burning calories faster while enjoying the ride. Researches show that cycling at a comfortable pace can easily burn around 500 calories in a 135 pound woman in just one hour. Cycling helps the women look younger since research has proven that regular cycling can protect the skin from harmful radiations, thus reducing the skin aging effects. Such heavy workout would induce a good sleep, which in turn has beauty benefits apart from having a good metabolic effect on the body. Cycling also increases hunger by faster digestion, thus improving the digestive systems. Increased circulation of blood would enhance and improve the functioning of the brain. This exercise also increases immunity levels and help live longer and healthier. Cycling is also an advisable exercise during pregnancy and results in easier and less complicated labor. Cycling is also proven to keep away cancer by keeping the cell working in order. Heart and lung function also improves due to increased intake of oxygen while cycling. This also has a positive effect on reducing fatigue.

Cycling is also a pleasure activity and thus relaxes the mind while working on the body. Some other reasons to support a healthy activity like cycling would include environmental reasons, avoiding the traffic jams, avoiding pollution and most importantly heavy savings on fuel thus making the pocket happier by the day.

Cycling can result in bulky thighs in women. The spinning of cycle wheels might result in burning calories in the short run, but in case it is not combined with other exercises, cycling might result in bulky and heavy thighs in women, thus making the body disproportionate in look. With regular cycling exercises, the leg muscles get stronger, which results in expansion in size. In the long run, training under such heavy resistance would result in gaining of muscles which looks bulky. Such toned muscles, though look good for men, women being petite and more feminine, muscles do not go with the delicate image of women. A positive aspect about being women is that the lower levels of testosterone in the body would not allow having bulging muscles like the men. Cycling, especially improper cycling can result in genital problems among women. Women cyclists often complain about skin infections, lymphatic damage, swelling, numbness and genital discomfort. Getting the right saddle, wearing padded shorts and fitting the cycle, according to personal requirements can help get rid of such discomfort.

Cycling for women, though, has some cons, has no alternative as an exercise and mood lifter. The cons can be avoided or managed in order to have so many pros of cycling.
