Product Marketing Director Talks Fleet Logistics with Manufacturing Digital

Fleetmatics' Director of Product Marketing, Todd Ewing, got a chance to chat with Jonny Williamson at Manufacturing Digital about moving forward with fleet tracking intelligence in 2013.  Fleetmatics helps companies determine inefficiencies within their fleets.

According to Ewing, the logistical part of operations should be the major focus of manufacturing companies in the year ahead. This is where many are seeing profit margins shrink. Companies should focus on integrating software into supply chain operations so they can accurately measure data and identify clear-cut efficiencies.

Fleetmatics provides an objective data point for its clients. Many managers have previously relied on the word of technicians or drivers to let them know what went on during the day. "But the truck is the truth so to speak because the truck can’t lie. How you then look at that data depends on the problem you are trying to solve; whether its efficiency, service or customer related," explains Ewing.

Beyond just providing fleet tracking data to companies, the system also focuses on extending fleet life, improving vehicle routing, and stopping unsafe driving practices.
