New Zealand’s Popstrangers recorded their new 7″ on a lightship moored on the Thames in London, but the record sounds like it’s somewhere in the middle of the Pacific. “Rats in the Palm Trees’ cascades over you with the kind of dense looseness often found on early Pavement records. The trio seem to have a healthy fixation with a high standard for their indie pop, and torn to shreds guitars checking themselves against distorted vocals make for a very compelling listen.
