I gave someone a picture of a piece of jewelry of mine recently to use in a promo card for a group show.
The photo was sent with the correct orientation. But for whatever reason....I guess to fill in space within the card....they decided to turn the photo on it's side and show the Brooch looking like this:
No, they didn't ask permission. And considering that I specifically designed the brooch in the other direction, I was pretty upset when I saw the card. This was this first time "ever" that someone had flipped a pic on me, art or jewelry, and it was a real surprise. Especially considering all the online things I do and that the people who designed the card do have an arts background.
I guess the point of this blog post is... in addition to venting... to let people know that it is "NOT COOL" to flip other people's pics or to edit them without the owner's permission.
If you were to purchase this brooch, then you can do whatever you like with it.
