Phosphorescent is the moniker of Brooklyn-based Matthew Houck, who comes to us via Alabama – and it shows. His is a brand of deeply heartfelt, down tempo, down-home indie– sort of like if emo met Americana– and “Song for Zula” is no exception. The new tune is rather pretty, with lyrics that directly quote Johnny Cash. “Song for Zula” is from Phosphorescent’s latest LP Muchacho, due out in March.
