Charles Darwin's voyage aboard the HMS Beagle was one of wonder and curiosity. These are some of ideas LEGO fosters. So why not pair the two? A reader recently pointed me in the direction of an excellent petition over on LEGO ideas to do that very thing and get a LEGO kit of Darwin (and company) aboard the Beagle made.
It's over 3/4 of the way to it's 10,000 signature goal; making it tantalisingly close. Go on and help push it over the edge! Of course, my motivations are purely selfish. Whilst I may talk of wonder and curiosity, I really just want the thing for myself. It just looks so cool. Look, here's Darwin riding a giant tortoise!
The LEGO company also seem pretty enthusiastic about the idea, leaving this comment when the petition passed the halfway mark:
Because Science, that's why! What a beautiful ship, what a lovely idea! Now builders of all ages can journey to to parts unknown and unstudied to see what wonders await.
