Pervez Musharraf Won’t Leave Pakistan: APML

Posted on the 25 May 2013 by Azharnadeem

All Pakistan Muslim league (APML) has dismissed the reports that former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf will leave Pakistan as part of deal within next few days.

The political advisor of Pervez Musharraf — Chaudhry Sarfraz Anjum Kahlon regarded the media reports in this regard baseless saying the former president is not considering any exit strategy and will remain in Pakistan.

Pervez Musharraf, who is facing legal trial in different cases, is currently detained at his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, which has been declared as a sub-jail.

“The political entities who feel intimidated by Musharraf’s presence must realize that he is a soldier who has fought for Pakistan and nothing scares him. Musharraf dedicated his life to Pakistan the day he joined the armed forces and he has every right as a citizen to live with his people,” Anjum Kahlon stressed.

Pervez Musharraf had returned to country in March ending his four-and-half year self-imposed exile to partake in the May 11 polls but Peshawar High Court placed a lifetime ban on him for contesting elections, citing the former military ruler breached the constitution twice and confined the judges in their homes.

Last week, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has approved the bail plea of former president in Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Despite of  boycoting the general elections against the rejection of nomination papers of Pervez Musharraf, APML had succeeded to secure one national and one provincial assembly seats from Chitral.

Shahzda Iftikharuddin had clinched NA-32 seat from Chitral by securing 19,938 votes while Ghulam Mohammad won election from PK-90 (Chitral-II) constituency by obtaining 10,691 votes.

Ghulam Mohammad last week joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) upon the direction of former president Musharraf to favour Imran Khan’s party in the KPK Assembly. Shahzda Iftikharuddin will sit on the opposition bench in National Assembly.
