Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has once again declined the offer to get the safe passage, saying he won’t leave the country without proving his innocence.
The attempts to persuade him to leave country have been accelerated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who won storm to historical victory in the May 11 general polls, waiting in wings to take the charge of government.
However, the former military ruler, who is at currently detained at his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, which has been declared as a sub-jail, declined the offer saying the death is acceptable to him but he won’t leave the country with proving his innocence.
Ending his four-and-half year self-imposed exile, Pervez Musharraf had returned to country in March to partake in the general elections but Peshawar High Court placed a lifetime ban on him for contesting elections, citing the former military ruler breached the constitution twice and confined the judges in their homes.
In a surprising move, Advocate Chaudhry Aslam Ghumman, a lawyer who had filed a petition in judges’ confinement case, on Saturday withdrew his complaint against the former president.
