I almost forgot about this song until I stumbled across it on You Tube today. It’s not played on the radio as much as their biggest hit, Sweet Child O’ Mine. To be honest, it makes me a little sad because of where the old band is today and the problems they faced over the years. In other words, nothing lasts forever…and not even a Hall of Fame induction can bring everyone together again.
Patience was released as a single in April of 1989 from the band’s second album, G N’ R Lies. The lyrics were written by Axl Rose and the music was composed by Izzy Stradlin. It went to #4 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The story behind the song is up for debate but the general consensus is that it’s about a failed relationship. The question was, who is Axl singing about? Though he never confirmed it, fans are left to believe that it’s about Erin Everly who was also the inspiration behind Sweet Child O’ Mine.
