Paper Quilts

By Kathybarbro @KathyBarbro
Paper Quilts Quiltmaking connects to studies in so many ways – history, math, patterning, even teamwork. I’m liking this project because it requires little prep work, and can result in one very large and cool “quilt” in about 45 minutes.
Paper Quilts 1. Cut paper into 4" squares. I like to use the slippery fingerpainting paper as the marker color just seems to glide on. Students use a protractor to make two curved lines. It is important that all the students make the curves the same way, with the corner of their paper touching the small center hole as shown. Remove the protractor to complete the inside curve.
Paper Quilts 2. Students add patterns and color as desired. As squares are completed, glue them down to a large sheet of paper with a glue stick. Arrange the circles so they complete each other. Let’s hear it for teamwork!
