Ottawa’s Summer of Music Begins!

Posted on the 01 May 2015 by Hendrik Pape @soundcheckblg

It may only be May 1 but tonight kicks off one of the biggest summer's of live music Ottawa has seen in a very long time.

I've been living in the Ottawa area since 2004 and I can't recall a summer as loaded with live entertainment as this one. From country music to classic rock to EDM there's truly something for everyone and it all kicks off tonight with the long awaited CD release of one of Ottawa's favourite emerging country artists and 2015 CMAO Rising Star & Female Artist of the year nominee, Brea Lawrenson. That event takes place at the beautiful Algonquin Commons Theatre at Algonquin College.

The party continues Saturday night as the 2015 ACM Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan, returns to Ottawa's Canadian Tire Centre bringing along with him Dustin Lynch and Randy Houser, who was just in Ottawa this past December as part of Dierk's Bentley's Riser Tour. Of course we were first to tell you about this show back in January and as of this morning I can officially confirm that I will be at tomorrow's show so be sure to follow @SoundCheckBlg on Twitter and SoundCheckEntertainment on Instagram for full live coverage of every second of the action.

As we head into the work week the party continues as classic rockers Def Leppard kick off the summer concert series at the newly renovated TD Place at Landsdowne Park.

Next weekend another local artist, Danielle Allard, will celebrate the official release of her début album Chameleon. That party goes down Saturday night, May 9, at the Bourbon Room. If you can't make it to the release you'll be able to catch Danielle live at this summer's TD Ottawa Jazz Festival on June 26.

Of course there are festivals for everyone this summer as well featuring everything from the family free for all at Tim Horton's Dragon Boat Festival to the recently crowned event of the year by Ottawa Festivals, RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest and of course you can't forget the official return of a dedicated country music event to the Ottawa region with Capital Country Fest @ Spencerville Stampede!

This is just a taste of what's in store for Ottawa this summer, be sure to stick with us because Sound Check will be front and centre all summer long covering shows and events in Ottawa, Toronto and where-ever else the highway takes us, so what do you think? Should we get this party started?
