Last issue, we were left with the lasting image of Bucky chopping off the head of Nick Fury and it angered a lot of people. We get to the bottom of that in this issue and the explanation just causes even more questions.
Let’s back up a little. There is a lot to like in part 4 of Original Sin. Jason Aaron is just having fun now and it is spilling across the pages. Punisher and Dr. Strange are at odds, standing on the body of a giant. Okay, got it. Then we see Bucky holding Fury’s head aloft as he speaks to a mystery person. Then, if that wasn’t enough, we join Emma Frost, Ant-Man and Black Panther as they trace a signal to a secret satellite. Whew. Oh, and let’s not forget Hulk and Wolverine too. They end up on the wrong end of a bad scene. Deep breath.
Just when you think it can’t get crazier, everyone ends up on that aforementioned satellite along with Gamora and Moon Knight, who caught a ride from a certain friend. That friend has a run in with Punisher that is perhaps my favorite moment of the series so far. Remember that whole Bucky/Fury head chopping thing I mentioned getting explained? Yeah, it does and it is not what you expect. Questions on top of questions.
I was surprised how much I liked Original Sin at first, then I kind of wavered some after last issue. This issue pulled me right back in and was just page after page of fun. It still looks wonderful with Deodato continuing to nail it and I’m really impressed with Aaron’s script in this issue. It’s not perfect, it can get a little hokey at times, but you know what? I’m okay with that. This is what I want my event comics to be. Original Sin is back on track and if you dropped off you might want to pick this issue up and have a blasted good time.
