ORIGINAL SIN #2 Review

Posted on the 22 May 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

If you read my review of Original Sin #1 then you know I had no plans to read this event.  I’m so glad I didn’t stick to that because it just keeps getting better.  It’s not just good, it’s really good.

The pairings that Fury put together last issue were odd, but part of the fun of this story is trying to figure things out.  Who killed the Watcher is definitely front and center, but also why did Fury put together the people he did?  We see some of those pairings in action here, with Black Panther, Emma Frost and Ant Man searching underground for clues.  They discover a rather large grave yard that leads us the first of many great Deodato splash pages.  I mean, dude, seriously?  How talented is he?

Thankfully, we see more of Nick Fury in action too.  What do we call him now?  Classic Fury?  I don’t know, regardless, he’s been so great in these first two issues and we see that naming your car must be a S.H.I.E.L.D. requirement.

After a few pages of Tony Stark in his underwear talking to Bruce Banner, we see Doctor Strange and Punisher find something interesting then we go on Mike Deodato and Frank Martin overload.  These guys go nuts.  The super heroes are converging on their suspect  and this is just pure eye candy.  Page after page of it.  They are going to make posters of what we are seeing here.  It’s just that good.

Original Sin has far exceeded my expectations and I’ve enjoyed it far more than I thought.  By the end I was all giddy and then they go and answer the question, “who holds the eye?”, and I can bet your sweet bippy that you didn’t see that one coming.
