Abstract
The swelling of the testes is known as Orchitis. It is a painful condition in males that affects one or both testes. One-third of males (children) develop orchitis after the mumps viral infection. Although there are many other reasons for getting Orchitis, that are discussed in the article. Orchitis can affect fertility and cause other many symptoms that can be painful and severe. We will study various symptoms of Orchitis through this article. We will discuss various ayurvedic medicines that are used in the treatment of Orchitis.
Introduction
Orchitis is the inflammation of one or both testicles due to bacterial or viral infections. It is a painful condition that is associated with infection that can occur due to various reasons. Bacterial infections in the body, recurrent urinary bladder infections, and any surgery of the penis, genitals, or urinary tract area can lead to this infectious condition. Males with multiple sexual partners are at risk of getting Orchitis. Also, Orchitis can occur as a complication of mumps viral disease, and males who are not immunized against the mumps virus develop this viral disease and thus get Orchitis too.
Ayurvedic Aspect
In Ayurveda Orchitis is correlated to " Kuranda Rog " which occurs in male children due to certain reasons that cause Pitta dosha aggravation in his body. The aggravated Pitta toxicate the Blood and cause swelling in the Mushak (testes). The toxins and pitta dosha together cause this painful condition called Kuranda. Pacification of Pitta dosha is the main motive along with the purification of blood and excretion of toxins from the body to improve the condition.

Symptoms
Symptoms of Orchitis can develop suddenly during the infectious period and may include
- Swelling in one or both side testicles
- Pain in testes
- Tenderness
- Pain and heaviness of scrotum
- Pain radiating to the groin region
- Malaise
- Fever
- Nausea with vomiting
- Headache
- Muscles pain
- Swollen lymph nodes
Diagnosis
The diagnosis is confirmed through
- Direct physical examination
- Personal history of STD or mumps infection
- Enlarged lymph nodes are found
- Prostate enlargement
- Urine test
- Ultrasound
Treatment
Orchitis includes treatment of bacterial and viral infection accordingly
- Antibiotics
- Pain killers
- NSAIDs to reduce inflammation
- Bed rest
- Supporting the scrotum with an athletic strap
- Cold packs

1. Gokshuradi Guggul
