Orchid Show

By Joyweesemoll @joyweesemoll

The annual Orchid Show at the Missouri Botanical Garden features a Madagascar theme with informative signs and beautiful flowers. And crowds. Taking really good photos is a challenge, especially since powerful fans cause delicate petals to shimmy.

When we saw that a new class was being offered that provided after-hours access to the Orchid Show, we made a point to sign up the day that the registration opened. Class participants were allowed to use tripods, sit on the floor, and take all the time we wanted to work with a subject. The fans were even turned off so we didn’t have to deal with moving flowers. I was very pleased with my results.
