A Pinch Of Spice…

Trying on that pretty wool jacket in “nutmeg” from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (see pic HERE) has reignited my obsession with the spice/rust/terra-cotta/cognac family of colors. While I ultimately decided that particular jacket was heavier than I needed, I’d love to find something in a similar color and lighter weight.

These warm spicy tones are usually considered fall colors, and are often more available beginning this time of year. But I don’t think they have to be relegated to autumn-only wear. It’s really more the weight of a piece than color that determines what’s seasonally appropriate these days.

Eileen Fisher’s August collection includes several pieces in the color “paprika” which is just a little brighter than the wool jacket, but still within that color realm.

I’ve ordered this long cotton jacket to try, and will report back. I’m hoping it will be lightweight enough to actually wear here in the fall.

J.Crew almost always has some iteration of this color in their collections. Here’s a cute cotton boatneck sweater in “spice.”

A suede jacket in rust is a classic. This one from BLANKNYC is included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

A cognac bag can be a nice way to add some fall color. The stripe adds a nice visual pop to this simple leather tote.

Are there any traditionally “fall” colors that you like to wear year-round?
