A summer setting for an Old Luxters Barn Wedding
Woven through generations the ritual of ‘The wedding day’ steeped in tradition, from the ceremony, the wedding breakfast, the cake cutting, the bouquet toss.
Take them all or be more selective. The words may vary but the pattern is the same.
Familiar steps taken by previous generations, yet to be taken by future couples. Many choose this ‘holding’ rite of passage as we adapt it in our own more personal way.
Andreea & Justin’s Old Luxters Barn wedding, was a personal blend of old and new. From a bridal procession walking across the bridge to the church, to archive photographs of a grandparents wedding being handed around during the reception.
Signposts to the past. Roots, identity, custom and belief.
Old Luxters Barn Wedding Photographers
Whilst working as a documentary wedding photographer, I’m there reacting to what I see, hear and sense. Sometimes it’s a combination of all 3. Seeking to anticipate the best angle, composition, lighting and to get the image, that tells it as it was.
When working with audio recordings and creating photofilms, I get a second take on things. To re-listen to the ceremony and the speeches.
It’s here that new things pop out. Often things that may have washed over me on the day – they were heard, but they didn’t resonate at the time.
Upon making Andreea & Justin’s Old Luxter Barn Wedding photofilm, there were some huge soundbites that had depth and sincerity – a strong message and a power all to their own.
They were words of advice from Andreea’s father.
Wise & powerful, such wisdom so eloquently put!
"Alway choose what brings beauty to your life rather than what brings material advantage. Secrets become wedges - there is a reason why a man and his wife become one. Forgiveness is the strongest healing ointment, Pride is the strongest toxin. Falling in love is necessarily followed by falling out of love. In contrast, genuine, deep, sincere love endures for ever." Andreea father's wish to the new couple
Having just recently married myself this summer, words and advice such as this would have been valuable, to me, they perfectly signpost the key qualities needed in any enduring relationship.
Do take a few moments and view this photofilm. It’s certainly a place to go if you are looking for inspiration if you are writing a Father of the Bride wedding day speech!
The wedding day details….
Andreea and the girls got ready at the Compleat Angler Hotel. A simple 3 minute walk across the bridge and scenic stretch of the River Thames to All Saints Church for the ceremony. Following the church service, all relocated back to the Chiltern Winery and Old Luxters Barn – Oxfordshire Wedding Venue.
Great settings for family and friends to celebrate the day, with a rich collection of nationalities, Romanian, British and German – experiencing some of the best in Oxfordshire weddings.
Congratulations Andreea & Justin. It was a real pleasure to share in your day, to capture the images, to create the photofilm and to learn more about family and life!
