Anyway, I was looking for a way to kick myself into gear and hoped to find a juicing/cleanse program that was easy to follow, good for you, and tasty. Kristin blogged about a Minnesota company named Zula that created local, fresh, organic and raw juice cleanses that are delivered to your door. She had great feedback so I wanted to give them a try. I trust my Minnesota blogger gals.
For beginners, they recommended a 1-3 day classic cleanse since it offers all the basics. You drink 6 juices per day in a suggested order. If needed, raw veggies are permitted. When my boxes arrived on my doorstep, I was excited and nervous. I just came off of 2 straight days of eating stadium food at a baseball and hockey game, and my system was surely in for a shock.
Day 1:I was feeling a little like Buster from "Arrested Development" with his juuuuuice obsession. The juices energized me and weren't bad at all. I didn't really miss chewing or eating, and didn't get a headache. Rockin' and Rollin'.Day 2:This is where the tide turned. Caffeine headache set in and I was craving anything and everything.Super rough, but I made it through.
Day 3:By the last day, I was down about 5 pounds but feeling so so tired and weak.I noticed that my skin was getting a bit brighter, though, which was a bonus. They recommend that you rest during your cleanse, but that didn't really work for me. My day job is too crazy. I also realized by Day 3 that the only way I like beets is smothered with blue cheese.
In all, the juices were tasty and I definitely think it's a good idea to do every once in a while to clean yourself out, reset, and re-energize.
