Looking to catch up with 2016 movies you might have missed but prefer to do so using some of the streaming apps you might already have? That's what I've been doing over the past week, stumbling upon plenty of notable 2016 movies on Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, HBO, Showtime and Starz (in the States). It wasn't always easy as several of these apps don't do a very good job of highlighting all of their truly new movies.
Please note this isn't intended to be a comprehensive list, just a list of the films I've noticed. If I missed some, let me know in the comments. Also, I haven't seen all of these, and haven't had time to write reviews for every single one that I have seen. However, it's interesting to observe the identities being formed by the various streaming services at least in terms of movies, i.e., how Amazon is building itself as an indie film lover's destination, Showtime cares only about edgy documentaries, Starz is a bit adrift after losing its Disney deal to Netflix and Netflix continues to put everyone to shame with its variety.
