Although it has yet to be announced, Nokia Lumia 929 went on sale in China. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to have Nokia’s latest handset before everyone else, you can buy it via China’s largest online retailer, TaoBao, at the price of $628 (3,800 CNY). It has Verizon’s logo on it, so we figure that’s more or less what we’ll get when the phone is officially out.
Verizon and Nokia were supposed to announce the new phone on January 16.
In addition to a number of photos, a video of Lumia 929 has leaked and even the full specs (though we’ll stay slightly skeptical until Nokia releases Lumia 929). They (more or less) confirm what we’ve known for months – the Icon sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (running at 2.2GHz), 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 5in screen with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 20-megapixel PureView camera.
LTE doesn’t work on the handset in China and 2G only works on China Mobile, while 2/3G work on China Unicorn. If you want to make it work on China Telecom, you’ll need a cracked SIM.
Verizon and Nokia have yet to say anything about the phone being sold in China and the official release date still remains unconfirmed.
