If you've been on my facebook page or Instagram you'll have seen that my secret santa at work bought me the most amazing present...ninja shaped biscuit cutters! I love baking however never seem to have the time to but seeing as it's the Christmas Holiday's, I have plenty of time to cook! So here is the recipe for Ninja shaped Gingerbread men.
What you'll need
350g plain flour
2 teaspoons of ground ginger
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
a pinch of cayenne pepper
100g of butter
175g soft, light brown sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons of golden syrup
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 190C and cover a baking tray in greaseproof paper
2. Sift the flour, ginger, soda and cayenne pepper into a bowl
3. Rub in the butter with your fingers so it goes to a fine consistency
4. Add the sugar, syrup and egg
5. Stir together to make a firm dough. I recommend using your hands as it's much easier than using a spoon
6. Roll out the dough. Make sure you put down LOTS of flour because I didn't the first time and the dough just stuck to the counter top. Don't roll it too thin either; the recipe said 5mm but I just guestimated...think of your preferred cookie depth and work from that!
7. Using the cookie cutters, cut out your ninjas and place them onto the baking tray. From this recipe, I made 30 because I kept rolling it till I had no dough left!
8. Place into the oven and cook for 10-15 minutes
And voila, you have ninjabread cookies! You can decorate them as you like or just leave them. Because I got this as a present, I don't know where it was bought however I did some googling for you lovely people and you can buy the cutters here at firebox.com but I'm sure you can find them cheaper online somewhere! Don't forget to comment below if you try the recipe and if you do, upload a picture of your ninjas on the facebook page because I would love to see them!
