Last week, Brien and I were invited to celebrate Murray’s Cheese shop’s new renovations! It was quite a party, and quite a feast! If you haven’t been to Murray’s, I highly recommend you get yourself there, and STAT. The last time I visited the storefront was back in 2010, and as taken as I was with the concept then, there’s even more to explore now!
This photo was taken from one of their classrooms. Murray’s regularly hosts such courses as Cheese 101, Mozzarella Making, Whiskey and Cheese (!), Coastal Wines and Cheese, etc. I spoke to a staff member about bridal showers and bachelorette parties, which are apparently very popular at Murray’s! How fun would that be?!
The last time I visited, Murray’s Melts hadn’t yet been installed. It’s a counter where you can order all kinds of fancy grilled cheese, and I love grilled cheese!
Brien sampled the sandwiches and the mac & cheese bites, both of which met his seal of approval. And as of Saturday, I’m eating gluten again (!!!!!), so I’ll have to go back and try them out myself!
My crazy eyes got the best of me at the cheese counter…
So many delicious things to try!
Murray’s lets you taste any cheese they stock, and Brien and I sampled quite a few.
One of my favorite things we tried was Culture yogurt, which makes both smoothies and spoonable yogurts. On the bottom tray, the yogurts were arranged, top to bottom, from 0%—>2%— whole milk. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the color gets a lot darker as the fat content increases. 2% and whole milk yogurts are my jam!
There was a fabulous topping bar set up, so we each made little yogurt parfaits. Brien (who is very excited in this photo) made a sweet one, while I went with savory: pesto, roasted tomatoes, good olive oil.
It was a fabulous evening, and got me really excited to eat cheese! We’ve already been to one picnic this summer, but I envision many more to come, where cheese plates will be the star.
What’s your favorite kind of cheese? Trick question, because I can’t pick one!
