Nigella has had a rollercoaster of a year. First, her show the taste with Anthony Bourdain got renewed for a second season. Then, photos of her husband Charles Saatchi putting his hands around her throat in a restaurant surfaced. She laid low for a bit and now has broken her silence with a picture celebrating her son Bruno's birthday on Twitter. Moving vans were being filled with her and Bruno's belongings for three days from the Charles and Nigella's shared Chelsea home, so it seems a reconciliation might not be happening for quite a while, if at all. While Nigella might be new to the U.S., she has been much beloved in the U.K. and dubbed the "queen of food porn". She started her career as a restaurant critic, next went on to write many amazing cookbooks, and then on to having numerous cooking shows in the U.K.. The U.S. couldn't help but take notice of this stylish, seemingly poised woman with a little sass. Nigella has made appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, had programs on the Food Network, and now joins Anthony Bourdain as a judge in the new ABC show The Taste, a food competition show where anyone from a professionally trained chef to a home cook compete for $100,000 and a Ford hybrid car.
Nigella and her husband, Charles Saatchi, were out for a bite to eat in June when he apparently put his hands around her neck in public. The argument, allegedly over how former personal assistants misappropriated funds, lasted about 27 minutes. There were paparazzi in the area and caught the whole thing on camera. The photographs came out soon after. Her husband released a few sorry excuses that I won't even say because they pictures themselves tell the actual story.
