In this week’s issue of Net-A-Porter’s The Edit Magazine Nicole Kidman shows much softer and happier side of her. She talks about her eight-year marriage to the Country Star Keith Urban, her constant positivity, how family always comes first and the secret to happiness. At 47 Nicole Kidman has found her very own happy place in Nashville, so it’s no wonder that she looks more beautiful than ever.
Nicole Kidman on her marriage: ‘Keith always says, “We’re lucky we met late in life. The sadness of that is we can’t have six kids together, but the greatness of that is [we are done] with all the other stuff, so now we are totally present for this.” That’s a great thing to hear from a man.’
Nicole Kidman on her deep emotional ability: ‘I had intense feelings as a child; I used to cry when my mother would go and play bridge. I’d be crying in bed, waiting for her to come home. My depth of emotion was powerful.’
Nicole Kidman on the aftermath of her divorce from Tom Cruise: ‘Sometimes you’ve just got to navigate through pain and depression. Maybe you have a down day, but life is contrast. I’d rather feel it and know it.’
Nicole Kidman on being positive: ‘I don’t know if it’s being happy per se, but I’m always able to flick it and go, ‘Things are pretty good.”‘
Nicole Kidman on acting: ‘The whole point of being an actor is that you create characters to look totally different – to speak differently, behave differently, walk differently. And I suppose that’s what I still fight for. Every single part of me has to change to embody a character; sometimes it’s successful, sometimes it’s not. But that’s what interests me. I’m not enamored enough with myself to keep playing a version of me.’
Nicole Kidman on her happiness: ‘Snuggling. Snuggling is the secret to happiness.’
