New Year, New Blog, New Hair

New Year, New Blog, New Hair

This feels weird. After not blogging for nearly two whole months now I feel like I’ve lost the ability to write! You may have noticed I was gone, you may not have… but the fact is I’m back and I’m blogging again. Hooray! The main reason I stopped in the first place was Christmas was absolutely MANIC for university work, I mean seriously, what even is a holiday? I literally didn’t get a break, between numerous assignments and two exams my whole life has been spent revising or writing coursework, thankfully that’s all done now and I have a whole week to relax and do anything I want!

In December I decided it was time for an overhaul of my blog, I absolutely hated my design and I feel like I had outgrown the whole pastel colours and swirly fonts. I started trying to re-design it on my own but basically I’m rubbish and didn’t have a clue where to start! I finally took the plunge after new year and got in touch with Pipdig (@pipdig on Twitter), and I can honestly say I just wish I had done it sooner! Although my blog design may look simple and similar to other people’s with the whole monochrome theme, I absolutely love it and Phil from Pipdig has been extremely helpful, responding to any questions I had so quickly even on a weekend. If you are looking for a new blog design, WordPress or Blogger, I would definitely recommend checking them out for professional and affordable designs. I’m still not 100% finished as there are a few things I want to tweak and add, but a lot of it involves creating more content which I will get round to doing in time. For now I just wanted to get my blog back online!

Now that I’ve invested actual money into my blog I feel more inspired and motivated than ever to really stick at it. Blogging is something I really enjoy doing, and I think during stressful times when I’ve got loads of university work to be doing, I need to learn to give myself a break and that’s where this blog comes in. I’m aiming to post at least twice per week, and be more organised with planning posts on a weekend; taking photos and editing when I have a bit of spare time, and writing posts whilst I’m just wasting time watching TV. I’m also hoping to branch out more rather than doing constant beauty reviews, including more lifestyle and food posts (I say that as I’ve just nearly burnt my kitchen down boiling potatoes). We’ll see what happens, the main thing is I want this blog to be fun. A place where I don’t put pressure on myself or worry about it, I love my blog and feel like this year is the year I’m going to ‘look after it’ and hopefully watch it grow.

As far as the whole ‘new year, new me’ thing goes I can’t say that’s happening. I’m fabulous as it is, why change? I’m kidding of course, I do have a few resolutions but it’s mainly simple and cliche things like make healthier life choices, be more charitable etc. I don’t want to dwell on that as personally I don’t find new year resolutions that important to share with other people, but one thing I have done this year… is get a fringe!

It’s hard work but I love it. I now need to invest in some straighteners so if you have any recommendations for ones that are good quality, but not as expensive as GHDs, I would love to hear them!

I couldn’t write my first post after a little break and not mention Rufus could I? He is still fluffy and cute and wonderful, but is now also huuuuuge and getting very cheeky! We’ve started a proper puppy training class and he doesn’t even look at me, even though at home he can do all of the ‘tricks’ anyway like sit, stay, paw etc. Naughty puppy! I love him though, and still totally obsessed with him.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and thank you for staying followed to me even though I’m a rubbish blogger! I would love it if you could all leave your blog links below for me to check out, as it’s my goal to start commenting on more lovely blogs <3
