TD Ottawa Jazz Festival
TD Ottawa Jazz Festival Executive Producer Catherine O’Grady announced more than two dozen new concerts and a brand new stage for this year’s Festival running from June 20 to July 1, 2014.
“The Laurier Avenue Canadian Music Stage shows the breadth and depth of talent we have in this country,” says O’Grady. “We have musicians at all stages of their careers that are producing music within the realm of jazz—in addition to those artists who are taking influence from the wider parameters of the genre.”
Kathleen Edwards
The Laurier Avenue Canadian Music Stage will feature top homegrown talent including “doom-soul” wonder Cold Specks, party band Five Alarm Funk, singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith, the stunning musical partnership of Whitehorse and hometown heroine Kathleen Edwards and the soulful band The Split. Foot-stompin’ Montreal act Canailles will make their Festival debut along with Les Soeurs Boulay. Festival favourites Elliott BROOD will also rock the stage.
Cuban-born pianist David Vireilles, a protégé of Jane Bunnett now living in Toronto, brings his “Continuum” project to the Laurier Avenue Canadian Music Stage. He blends folklore, visual art, electronic music and a variety of influences into his performance.
