New Shop Equipment

By Bertyc @bertyc
Hi Everyone!
Here's some pictures of new fancy equipment we have in the shop!
We received a brand new band saw that has never been used (It had never been wired up before we got it) that has apparently been sitting around somewhere at the university for quite a number of years.

The new band saw is absolutely awesome. This is definitely saying something as I usually don't get all that excited about mechanical equipment. I usually get excited about the new capacitors, integrated circuits, or resistors that I get to play around with.
Anyway It even has a blade welder, grinder, on the fly speed control, and two work lights, so that when the blade snaps for any reason you simply take it off, weld it back together, and within minutes your back to cutting again!

It even has a blower to clear the cutting area of dust while your cutting which allows you to cut through materials that would otherwise make you lose your place half way into a cut.
We also got a full mill! Its been very well used at the University and the University was just going to get rid of it so we told them we could put it to good use! We still need to get it wired up, clean it, and get tooling for it, but once those things are done we have a fully functional mill!

See Ya!
