I am really picky when it comes to deodorants, there are so many things I like and don't like in a deodorant that I will no longer mention because it will bore you. I've been using the same deodorant from high school to college. But around my sophomore year, I switched to something you could only buy from a dermatological clinic, I know so boring! But I'm getting bored with it, felt like I was just settling. So for the first time, I am using a new deodorant after several years. But does this new deodorant will stay with me as long, if not longer than the others? Scroll down to read my Cloud Cosmetics Underarm Hero review.
WHAT IS IT?
Underarm Hero is a new product by the cruelty-free Filipino beauty brand, Cloud Cosmetics. It is an alcohol-free underarm spray formulated with clinically-tested ingredients. It claims to prevent sweat, bacteria, and odor build-up. Infused with pomegranate to slow down hair growth, mulberry root to lighten skin, Maris Aqua, chamomile water, and sunflower water to soothe skin and prevent irritation. PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: After a shower, spray product directly to the target area. Use on clean, dry skin. Avoid contact with eyes.
SCENT: It has a floral scent that feels strong when you smell it directly from the bottle but when sprayed on your underarm, it's not that strong that it will overcome or mix with your perfume. It kinda has a sour smell too but after I sprayed it on my underarm, it's undetected.
PACKAGING: Okay, this is where the product has gone south. I prefer using a deodorant spray because I find rolls-on and the balms unhygienic so the fact that this deodorant is a spray it is a plus for me, however, the spray itself is kinda annoying. I'm not sure if it just the bottle I got or all their spray bottles are the same but how it sprays is not fine, meaning it sprays too much on my armpit and usually not direct. It often misses my armpit.
RESULT: Cloud Cosmetics Underarm Hero takes time to absorb into your skin, so if you're like me who don't like wearing her clothes while her armpits are wet (from deodorant), then you have to use a tissue to tap it into your armpit if you're in a hurry. Despite that, I like that it does not leave a white cast or yellow stain on my white shirts (but yellow stains are debatable, if your acidic, it can be the cause) and it doesn't feel sticky on the skin. I hate sticky deodorants, I sweat easily so it's the last thing I want on ANY products.
I also have really sensitive armpits yet I didn't feel any itch! First time I used this was actually my pre-birthday celebration where I had a whole day of activities which means I was so tired when I got home I didn't have a shower before sleeping (I know, eww) but the next morning I don't smell bad at all!! And that's coming from someone who has been suffering from body odor since high school. (I know, too much info, but a lot of people suffers from it.) My armpits still smell sweet as floral the morning after a whole day of activities, so the odor built-up prevention really works. Although the sweat prevention is not as good as I expected, around midday, I started sweating. But at least no odor!
And about "slowing down hair growth" I think it works too. Because whenever I shave my hair, it already grew a little by night. If I pluck it, it appears the next night. That's how fast my hair grows. But after using this product, it's like I used a Veet Hair Removal Cream. When I use Veet my hair starts to grow after 5-7 days, and when I used Underarm Hero, I think my armpit hair started to show after 3-4 days. I know it's less than the Veet but it's still longer than usual.
Lastly, for the whitening claim, I mentioned that I only stick to two deodorants since high school but it doesn't mean I didn't try other brands. I fell into "whitening deodorants" as well from those brand that always promises whiter underarms in the commercials but they never really work. As for this product, I haven't really been using this long enough to know if the whitening claim really works but I'm not holding my breath for it.
VERDICT
PROS: It prevent's odor built up, slows down hair growth, good for sensitive skin, not sticky, does not leave a white cast, and smells good yet not overpowering.
CONS: The spray on the bottle is poorly made. Does not absorb fast into the skin. And sweat prevention is not as good as I expected.
