It's August in Eastern Ontario, all of the major summer festivals have wrapped up and that can only mean one thing. Fair season is about to kick into high gear. One of the first of the season is this weekend's Navan Fair. It may be one of the younger fairs in the region at 70 years young but that doesn't mean they don't know how to put on a party!

Officially kicking off on Thursday August 6 the Navan Fair is one of the more affordable fairs in the region, adult weekend passes are just $25 and children (4-12) are just $10 for the full 4 days. If you are simply looking to attend a single day those passes are $10 for adults and only $3 for children. If you want to take in the licenced concerts on Friday or Saturday evenings admission to the Dome is only an extra $10 per day.

So what do you get for your admission?

You get daily horse shows, a midway, birds of prey demonstration, lumberjack demonstration, two demolition derbies a truck and tractor pull, the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Guinness World Record 50 Horse hitch and plenty more.

If you are 19+ an extra $10 on Friday will get you into the Dome where you will be able to take in one of Canada's top rock bands who will definitely be "Here for a Good Time" and are certain to "Raise A Little Hell" all night long, that's right Tropper headlines the Dome on Friday night.

Saturday night the Dome goes country with Ottawa's own "Canadian Pearl", Brea Lawrenson opening for Alberta's "Canadian Kid" Brett Kissel. We just hosted Brett a few weeks ago in Spencerville at the Capital Country Fest at Spencerville Stampede and we can assure you if you've never seen Brett Kissel live $20 is one heck of a bargain to see this Canadian superstar in action, throw Brea Lawrenson in for good measure and you're guaranteed a great show!

Sunday has it's share of entertainment, no extra charge for this day. Music starts at 1pm with EVILLE WELLS, GORD BARNES, and FLASHBACK followed by another Capital Country Fest alum Blackwell and then the Sunday headliner is Canada's First Lady Of Country Music, Caroll Baker.

If you don't have plans already this weekend why not pack the whole family into the car and head to Navan, it's only 20 minutes Southeast of downtown Ottawa, you can find full directions to the fair on their website!

For full event details and schedule visit www.navanfair.com, we'll be there...will you?

I founded Sound Check Entertainment in 2010 to help promote festivals and emerging artists from across Canada and the world! I now act as festivals liaison, manage media relations and, of course, cover events in the National Capital region. I'm also a diehard Habs fan but Sens fans fear not; as long as they aren't playing against my Habs I cheer just as loud for the Sens.
