Bollywood actor turned television presenter turned producer Riteish Deshmukh is highly overjoyed after receiving the first National Award for his second production venture ‘Yellow’.
He received the honor from The President Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 3rd of May at the 61st National Film Awards ceremony.
Riteish dedicated the award to his late father Vilasrao Deshmukh.
“My first National Award. This one is for my father. He would have been proud and said with a smile, ‘Well done beta’,” tweeted Riteish.
‘Yellow’ is Riteish’s second Marathi film and it won the Special Jury and Special Mention Awards at the 61st National Film Awards. The film ‘Yellow’, which is based on a true story of Gauri Gadgil, a special needs child, is directed by Mahesh Limaye. The film is about a mother daughter relationship and developmental disability and behavior of a child.
Riteish made his Bollywood acting debut with ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ in the year 2003 opposite Genelia D’Souza. The duo fell in love with each other and got married in the year 2012.
The actor turned producer with the Marathi film Balak Palak in the year 2013. Balak Palak is directed by Ravi Jadhav.
