My mom looked at me, messed up my hair and smiled sadly. She took a breath and began speaking,
" Son, I know that you think your father is a bad person just because he left us. Sure, that hurts everyday, but we both are strong enough to handle everything life throws at us.
Son, your father might have done many wrongs, but, he was a good soul and told me one thing which I am going to share with you today."
She paused, wiped away her tear and with a haggard breath, continued,
"Whenever you feel sad, go into depression, have the feeling that there is no one out there for you. When you feel that you have no friend and are looking for hope, there is only one being left for you to go to.
No, not God, after all, many others sought his help every year. No, I am going to tell you about the rabbit on the moon.
Sure, many people might call you names and will tell you that he is a figment of your imagination, but, son, you must never listen to them as only a few people can look at him. The ones with their hearts full of innocence.
Son, he will always be there for you. You just have to look up. He will be your best friend, role model, confident and lover. He will always support you. The only thing he asks in return is belief. Belief in him.
Be his friend and look at the wonders he had to give you. From the strength he gives you to the shelter he provides you from the malicious spirits of the dark.
Son, look up and say hi to him. Say hi to your friend."
I gazed up at the night sky and with a desperate feeling inside of me and searching frantically for two minutes, I saw him and shouted out loud while waving my hand,
"Hi Bunny, nice to meet you! I hope that we become good friends."
Till this day, he is always there for me when I need him.
