#myRTW: Getting Stamped on Safari in AfricaThe interview series #myRTW coincides with our hash-tag of the same name which is featured on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Our aim with the series is simple: to show off the world's amazing destinations that long-term travelers have enjoyed on the road!

In each entry of this series, participating RTW travelers highlight one experience or destination they consider a favorite from their trip and share what they loved about it.

Today's #myRTW interview features Hannah and Adam from Getting Stamped. Their long-term trip began in mid-2013 and is still going strong. Since beginning their trip, Hannah and Adam have visited dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. For them, their favorite experience so far was taking a multi-week safari in Africa in 2014.

In their own words, Hannah and Adam describe the experience...

The Number One Bucket List Item

#myRTW: Getting Stamped on Safari in Africa

"To pick our favorite experience to date is a tough one, as we have seen & done some amazing things over the past year and half. But our African overland safari was the number one bucket list item and it did not disappoint. It was jam packed with amazing sites from Serengeti National Park, Massai Mara, Zanzibar, Victoria Falls, Dune 45 in Namibia, and so much more

We made our way from Nairobi, Kenya to Cape Town, South Africa on a 43 day overland safari passing through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. We had no idea what an African overland camping safari would be like, neither of us had really ever camped except for weekend camping trips as kids...So to sign ourselves up for 43 nights of camping in Africa was huge.

It was the best trip we could have taken.

Will Never Be Able to Go to a Zoo Again

#myRTW: Getting Stamped on Safari in Africa

The wildlife in Africa is out of this world, we both have said we will never be able to go to a zoo again. We spotted the " Big 5" in our first 36 hours in Africa, and even the"Ugly 5" which we had never heard of until Africa. Africa is the best zoo in the world, nothing will ever compare. How close we got to the animals, and how they didn't seem to mind that we were there is amazing. Hearing the lions roar at night in Namibia is a cat lover's dream come true.

In Namibia we even got to play with the cheetah's, as one of the camp grounds was a rescue for cheetah's and the family had them living in the house with them like house cats.

So Much to Do

About 10 days into our safari we had a few days of beach time on Zanzibar to kick back & lay on the beach and take a day off from over-landing & camping. We also took to the skies and got high above Victoria Falls on a 30 minute helicopter ride.

Visiting with the local Masai villages gave us a great insight on daily life. But nothing compares to our school visit in Malawi, Malawi really opened our eyes...this country is amazing & the people have so little. We hope to get back to Malawi for a longer period of time and find a good organization to volunteer with.

We loved Africa so much we are heading back. Literally 1 year later we are boarding the same flight from Bangkok to Nairobi on April 29th. Come join us as we are leading a photo safari trekking with the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda to the Maasai Mara! "
