My Way of Parenting

Parenting is not a simple job as many might think.Bring up a child is like an adventure ,we ourself explore new things which we would have never met up earlier.

Being a full-time homemaker and a mother of two kids I learnt a lot straight from my motherhood and all my journey in bringing them up.Though an engineer by education I opted out to work and be a homemaker to take care of my children.There is an eight year age difference between my two kids and I should say the year gap gave more knowledge,exposure towards parenting.In this post I like to share my experience I bringing them up,the challenges,the pain,the difficulties ,the food, and so on.

Soon after our marriage we were blessed with a girl child and I was not that mature to bring my baby alone.I mainly depend on my mother for everything and carefully follow what pediatrician prescribe.I mostly fed her with the infant formula which I feel guilty even today for not giving the mother's milk.Even when any small discomfort I felt that my baby might have ,we would soon rush to the hospital.Finger millet porridge with palm jaggery with the only good food I gave her when she was an infant. Since I fed her mostly with formula drink she was bubbly and cute.What a strange society we live in ,people accept that a child is healthy only if it is chubby during those time.Some I brought her and she is fine now.

Things took a U-turn when my second baby, a boy was born.With the boom of internet and digital age and matured me ,my bring up method was different.With no one to help me, I alone brought him up,fed him mainly with mother's milk and cared him well.

Children nowadays are fussy eaters and they always prefer easy,readily available canned or packed foods to fulfill their hungry tummy.They are not concerned about the health issues in it but get attracted by the taste ,color, and appearance.As a parent, we must educate the bad in eating more of junk fruits.But the fact is only very few children accept it and avoid while many don't mind to hear it .

As all family is migrating to nuclear family from big joint family and both parents working , the mother doesn't find time to cook food from starch and depend on many ready to cook packets Due to this unhealthy means of cooking children becomes obese at very early age rooting to many illnesses.

For a building to be strong to withstand all climatic condition its foundation must be laid strong.In the same way , for a child to live healthy life its initial foods are to be highly nutrient for it to build a healthy body to fight against the disease.

Parent must check whether they give the children all necessary nutrients for healthy growth.Sometimes even if we take immense care by giving healthy food at times they fall ill and lack in growth both physically and mentally.

We must take the time to cook food at home and nothing is more important than taking time for cooking healthy and good food at home.Moreover, when we cook it love the food tastes the best.Never be in hurry to cook or serve the food as sometime it may lead to great problem.Enjoy and take time for every work.

We must carefully observe their physical and mental growth and it we see any sign of deficiency we must immediately try to rectify it.

Although as a parent ,if we feed them with healthy,home-made food there is a chance of lack in their growth.To compensate this we rely on any health drink.While choosing it check for the brand history,its nutrient content and go for it.One can blindly choose Horlicks growth plus to catch up the lost height and weight.
