My Sephora Color IQ Experience

As summer comes to an end, you have probably had to change-up your makeup shades because hopefully you have had plenty of beach and sun time.  Now it’s time to figure out the best color for you.  Sephora partnered with Pantone, the global authority on color and simplified the entire process with Color IQ.  Powered by Pantone and based off the color matching technology developed by X-Rite, the SEPHORA + PANTONE COLOR IQ system is the first and only beauty device to scan the surface of the skin and assign an official Pantone skin tone number, to find your scientifically precise foundation shade.

After hearing all the buzz about this new system, I had to try it.   Mac Cosmetics is my makeup of choice and has been for many years but I was willing to learn something new and try a new powder/foundation. 

  I also thought it would be cool to know my exact Pantone Color!   After waiting a few minutes, I spoke with the Sephora Beauty Expert, she asked about my skin (dry, oily, acne etc) and then applied the Spectrocolorimeter.  The first of its kind, the device works by taking an image of your skin, analyzing and assigning you an official Pantone skin tone number.

Via an iPad, she enters my newly discovered Pantone number into SEPHORA’s Universal Skin tone Guide which holds over 1,000 foundation skus to determine what products are a precise match for your skin tone.

11 matches come up, we narrow it down based on my dislike for liquid and desire for a light powder.  I enter my email address, all 11 matches are emailed to me for future reference.  My choices are brought over to sample and just like that, I have a new perfectly matched powder!

I LOVE IT!  This was my first Smashbox Cosmetics purchase and it is definitely my most favorite powder.  The Color IQ experience was great because it eliminates the guessing game and provides you with options you may have never considered.  I highly recommend it!   Already had the experience?  Loved it?  Let me know!
