My Pick For Color of the Year

Recently, Pantone came out with the color of the year for 2015.

Pantone Color of the Year

My reaction is the same now as when I first saw it a few weeks ago. Yuck! Really, what were they thinking? Maybe some people like it, but I find it a very unflattering color, whether it’s used in clothing or decor. I can’t imagine this color bringing out the best in anyone or anything.

So rather than lament any further on this disastrous color pick. I decided to just declare my own color of the year. The color of the year according to little ol’ me is now INDIGO!

Chic California's Color of the Year: Indigo

This rich flattering color is everywhere right now! And it’s a beautiful color to bring into your own wardrobe or decor. From throw pillows to bedding to accessories, Indigo can act as a neutral. It’s a great color to really add balance to your decor. And it’s an amazing color to ground brighter hues like lime green, or coral.  There’s nothing more classic than blue, no matter what shade you choose.

Indigo CollageIn fact, I put together a little budget friendly living room design plan so you can easily add Indigo to your space. All the items in this Mood Board are from Ikea, Target, World Market and Etsy. With the exception of the Moroccan Poufs, a bit of a splurge from One Kings Lane.
