Ohhhh Netflix. I think pretty much everyone has Netflix now, even my mom has it!
I think Netflix is great… until you’ve had it for a month or two, by which time you’ve already binged watched all the more popular shows and films. Then all of a sudden it’s impossible to find anything to watch, and Netflix does that annoying thing were it keeps suggesting shitty films for you to watch because it thinks it knows you now. No Netflix. Back off man.
I’ve found that the best way to discover the shows and films worth watching is by word of mouth, so I thought I’d share with you my favorite series, my favorite film and what I’m currently watching!
Obviously there are the shows that are suggested by everyone, and for good reason! If you’ve found your way here you should have already watched the best of the best: Prison Break, Breaking Bad, Orange Is The New Black, American Horror Story (my current obsession) etc, so if you haven’t seen those I suggest you go and watch them and then come back. You really are missing out!
Favourite Series – Great Expectations
I will never not recommend this. It really is amazing. I’m not a big fan of ‘the classics’ but I keep going back to this and have watched this several times. I saw it a few years ago when it was first released as a three part drama on BBC and I fell in love! I tried to read the book… I didn’t even get half way through the first chapter – calm your shit Dickens, it’s crazy. Oh, and it also introduced me to Douglas Booth, seen above. Uh-huh, you’re welcome.
Favourite Film – Zombieland
I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen this film. The movie poster makes it look crap and cheap, but that’s not the case at all. I always stick it on if I want something funny to watch or I just have it on in the background when I’m pottering about. If you know me you know I love all things zombie, so this is obviously right up my apocalyptic alley. And no, it’s not scary – it’s bloody hilarious! You should definitely check it out. Oh, and Woody Harrelson is god.
Currently Watching – The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
I LOVE THIS. This is another one of those ‘Netflix Originals’ and it hasn’t been out for very long so you may not have heard of it, but it’s definitely worth watching! I’m not going to say it’s amazing or anything, but if you’ve got a spare half hour and need a bit of cheering up this is definitely the show for you. It’s pretty light hearted and just easy to watch. I was sick from work last Sunday and this made my 24 hour stint in bed much more bareable (aside from the puking)! Oh, and the theme tune’s brilliant!
