Woodinville Wine Country offers visitors a tipple through more than 100 wineries and tasting rooms, only 30 minutes from downtown Seattle. “We wanted to have a presence in Woodinville,” says winery co-owner Craig Leuthold, “and when the opportunity came up to take over one of the most iconic locations in all of Woodinville – the Hollywood Schoolhouse – we just couldn’t say no.”
Founded in 1999 on the banks of the Columbia River Gorge, Maryhill Winery proprietors Craig and Vicki Leuthold also operate tasting room eateries in Goldendale, Vancouver and Spokane. “We’re a tasting room that offers really good food,” explains Leuthold. “We we want people to linger, and we want to build a relationship with our customers. A lot of tasting rooms – you come in, you taste the wine, but there’s no compelling reason to stay, because you can’t have any food – so you’ve got to go somewhere else to eat.”
The revamped Maryhill Winery Tasting Room and Bistro in the Hollywood Schoolhouse totals 10,000-square-feet, with capacity for 450 guests. Originally built in 1912, it includes a grand ballroom, upper lounge with cozy fireplace, antique bar, commercial-grade kitchen, parking, and outdoor balconies overlooking manicured gardens.
