My Favorite Summer Blushes - Roses and Pinks
I must say that I am a crazy blush hoarder and I just love blushes. Blushes can do magical things to uplift the complexion, create that 'desired' healthy flush whenever you want it and balance the makeup by being a bridge between your eye makeup and lip makeup. Its a perfect complexion enhancer and an easy way to create that radiant look.
I love pinks and peaches for Spring and Summer. Use them alone or pair them with a bronzer and you've the most amazing summery glow. In this article I am going to talk about my favorite pink and rose toned blushes....so lets have a look.......
A pink or a rosy glow epitomizes a beautiful healthy flush. On most of our olive and warm skin tones, a pink blusher pops due to the contrasting undertone. Add some shimmer and the blush magically transforms into a dewy glow that is lasting and beautiful.
My FAVORITES
  • Edward Bess Blush Imperiale in Moroccan Rose - This is one of the most pigmented blushes I have seen. Its soft in texture and has a satiny finish. The powders are so finely milled, that the brush picks up 'just enough' product for a full on blush application. The hue is a berry toned rosy flush that could look amazing on all skin colors. The blush can be layered and is buildable. When used alone, it creates a healthy rosy glow that peps up neutral eyes and soft pink-rose-berry lips. When used over a matte bronzer like Guerlain's Four Season's bronzer, it does mimic a healthy flush of color as if one has seen the sun for a bit longer time. I shall review this blush soon.
  • Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Rose Petale - This is warm toned shimmery rosy pink blush which is perfect for a summer day. It has soft pearlized pigments that create that dewy halo and the baked texture gives this blush that airy carefree look. I have noticed that this blush darkens after some time and thence you'd apply just enough to mimic that healthy rosy glow. This is by far one of my favorite Chanel blushes. On a bronzer, this blush could be used as a blush-cum-highlighter thanks to those pretty pearls. Another perfect blush for a summery day/evening.
  • Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Accent - This is by far the most versatile blush I have ever come across. It can create varying levels and degrees of effects on different skin tones and look good wherever it is applied. I could use this blush for softer rosy-mauve tint on the skin, on eyes to balance out neutral eyeshadow and make them pop or build it over a bronzer for that St.Tropez glow. It works well everywhere. Btw this one was a limited edition and if you haven't grabbed it then trust me, its a big loss. If you are lucky, you may find one at the Chanel counter or else NO.
  • Guerlain Rose Aux Joues in Pink Punk - When one rosy blush can do wonders on the skin, then imagine the power of 'two'. With a deeper rose as a contour and a pop of pink for a matte flush, this blush is simply amazing. Since the blusher has a bit of powdery dry texture, this one can be layered as desired and goes from a simple radiant glow to a decent pop of color on the cheeks without looking overtly bright and scary (unlike its ridiculously pigmented contenders).
  • Lancome Blush Subtil in Figue Espiegle - This is the newest blush in tow and a new oil in talc formula from Lancome. Being one of the most unique blushes I have come across, Lancome has succeeded in creating a wonderful product. The blush feels as soft as a cream product, glides dreamily on the skin and sets into a powdered perfection. The formula is very very different as compared to the blushes and the pay off is excellent. The blush is long lasting and is a perfect companion on the hot summery days of Mumbai. Its very wearable and can transition beautifully from a day time natural flush to an evening time candlelit glow. I shall review this blush soon.
So these are some of my most favorite blushes for the Spring and Summer of 2014. What are yours? Which is that go-to blush that you always use for getting your summery flush right?
Do let me know in the comments.
Till then,
Ciao
