My current | Base Coats

I used to sometimes skip a base coat back in the day, we’ve all done it right? It only took for my nails to get stained a handful of times before I decided a base coat was an essential part of my manicure routine.

Using a base coat protects your nails, be it from highly pigmented nail colours staining the nail surface, to the harsh chemicals that some nail polishes contain. Nowadays you’ll find that most brands offer a base coat for number of nail related problems too, like chipping, peeling and ridges.

If you’re still not sold on using a base coat, the fact that your mani could last longer should be enough to convert you into a base coat believer!

L'Oreal 7 in 1 Saviour

I got this as a Christmas gift and had never heard of it before. I actually really like it so far, but can’t see any of the promises it made on myself yet. You can get it for £5.99 from Superdrug, and earn 5 reward points.

The jury is still out on this one, I’ve been using it for a while and can’t decide exactly how I feel. Have you used this base coat before, what did you think? Let us know in the comments below. You can get it for £9.95 from Lookfantastic, with FREE worldwide delivery!

OPI Matte Nail Envy

Opi Matte Nail Envy

I bought this as a mattifying top coat before reading any reviews. After I tried it out I was disappointed to find that my varnish was only mildly mattified. After a bit of reading the packet, and online research I found that it’s actually as a base coat. However it can be used a top coat for a semi-matte finish. I got it for £18.65 from John Lewis, but I’m pretty sure you can find it for cheaper if you do a google search.

Over to You!
