My Android Favorite, Whats Yours?

Posted on the 26 March 2013 by Andrew Monks @mramonks

I'm no means new to android and in no way am I a developer, but I have had my fair share of android devices. I've been using android devices since the days of people asking me, "What phone is that?" "Android??? never heard of it" Well nowadays everybody has heard of it and everybody has a device or come into contact with one. Next is a list of the devices I've had over the years. I'm not trying to boast just letting you know I've had a bit of experience with a range of devices.

HTC Magic,HTC G2, HTC Sensation, Samsung galaxy S and s3, Motorola razr maxx, Huawei G300, Asus TF101, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG Nexus 4, Asus Nexus 7. Now you may have had one or some of these and others that you have a fondness for.

I thought long and hard about which ones I regret getting rid of the most, and I came to what may be considered a weird choice or choices as its the motorola razr maxx and the HTC G2. (images below for those who cant remember)

My Android favorite, Whats yours?

Motorola Razr Maxx (Released Jan 2012)

I know I've had the latest phones, and I still have the Nexus 4, but for me the latest phones lack a little something. At the time I longed for the next latest and greatest. Now when I look down to my nexus I miss the flip out keyboard on its special 'Z' hinge. I do miss the physical keyboard on the phone as it free's up the whole screen for browsing the web or texting. Especially when the screen size was only 3.7". It had a tiny 1300 mAh battery which I thought was tiny and rubbish but lasted about the same time as my device today.

That leads me nicely into my next favorite phone. The Motorola Razr Maxx. This had at the time, the biggest battery of any device at 3300 mAh. Which used to last 48 hrs very easily. I thought that these size battery's would become a standard feature but have never really come to fruition. Disappointingly!  When I had the Motorola I really hated the way it looked. The design had no imagination and was made to be practical rather than aesthetically pleasing. It was solid as rock and still to this day had the best build quality for me.

So for a quick wrap up to this, i'm surprised I chose the phones I did? In hindsight though, would I still be able to use them with the current versions of android and the latest apps?

What are you favs from your android past?
