Muxu (pronounced Mouchou) in the 11th, is another place I visited between Colette's visits, so I wanted to show it off and we went with two quite saavy food people. The carte looked quite different from before and after we had placed our orders a plate of really flavorful Iberico ham with espilette on its outer surface, appeared.
Photos of the ladies' dishes all were recorded - a tortilla of potato and egg; a huge portion of Basque tomme with confited fennel and honey; and ravioles with pumpkin, ricotta, new onions and chicken bouillon - but my fabulous lacquered mackerel with variously colored beets never made it to the memory chip. Too bad!
For mains, our friends had the risotto with chorizo and lovage (you'll remember Maggie Smith in Lettice & Lovage) and an incredible-looking but muttony-tasting (to my delicate palate) set of lamb chops with salsifis; while Colette and I each had the giant succulent gambas a la plancha with bacon and spinach.
Our eyes being bigger than our stomachs we allowed our friend B. to get the banana bavarois which we valiantly tried to finish - it was a shame to leave any of such a fine dessert over, but........
The bill, with 1.5 bottles of Haut Medoc, no bottled water and three coffees - was 170 E, thus 85 E a couple.
