This time next week Tramlines Festival kicks off in Sheffield, a city on the up... Since launching in 2009 the music extravaganza has grew and grew, each year not only in terms of the bands it books but size-wise too as it begins to take over the city. Up until this year the event has been a freebie but as it has expanded with popularity and funding cuts they have had to charge a small fee to access some stages but compared to other festivals it is still great value.
Tramlines has become one of my favourites, not just because it is hosted in my hometown but it gives a unique atmosphere and you can stumble across anything, new bands, established ones, every genre is covered causing an eclectic vibe amongst the attendees who range from music lovers to those just soaking up the festivities. It isn't just music about music either, arts, crafts and culture are all covered across the city as it spreads to parks and studios outside of the center. This is why it won the title of Best Metropolitan Festival in 2011 and 2013 looks to top previous years with a strong, diverse line up, hopefully this glorious weather keeps going too!
Check back every day till the festival as I will be focussing on who/what I'm excited for next week. For more details on the line-up, tickets and everything else visit Tramline.org.uk.
