Last night Brooklyn five-piece Skaters supported Deap Vally at the Leadmill. It was a strange one. The Sheffield crowd, who were largely 'blokes' there solely to perv on the Deap Vally girls couldn't be arsed with Skaters, their loss. The short set wasn't the smoothest, sound issues troubled the band throughout but the bands fantastic tunes shone through as did their energy and enthusiasm on stage. Deadbolt was raw and ready, I Wanna Dance (But I Don't Know How) ticks all the boxes for effortlessly cool whilst Schemers is becoming a new classic. Unfortunately the headliners were not in the same league and left no lasting memory.
There's still a few months to go till the bands debut album, Manhattan drops but they've gone and put Let The Heads Roll up, it's a spooky number.
