Last years two best pop hits Uptown Funk and Shake It Off weren't like the average three minute verse-chorus-verse-chorus-verse pop songs, they had unexpected twists and turns and this follows suite and it is executed brilliantly.
At first I was like, 'argh, Macklemore, what are you doing?', he upset many in the hip hop community with his last record (not intentionally, it was more to do with the color of his skin and the ability to write bangers) and now your trolling Bruno Mars (the titles, Downtown and Uptown Funk aren't the only similarities) but he's giving a nod to the little fella. Throughout the five minutes and twenty two seconds the song takes on other influences as it spirals and explodes with a glorious chorus, a massive hook and sing-a-longs which spell out, instant classic.
This is a unique track which gets better as it goes on, don't judge until you've reached the end. It is going to be huge. The video is pretty ace too.
